As a child she attended St. Francis Xavier Elementary School and Madonna Catholic Secondary School. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Education. She is currently an adjunct professor at York University.


Professionally, Anna is the owner of Desta Communication Inc. a Management Consulting Company which provides Organizational Development, Change Management and Training services to both business and government.


Before becoming a trustee, Anna served as chair and co-chair at St. Augustine S. S. for six years and represented the Secondary Schools of Brampton West at the Central Committee of Catholic School Councils (CCCSC) for three years.   She also represented the parents of Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board on the “Growing Success” initiative at the Ministry of Education and provided input into the design of the new report cards.

  • After 8 years of lobbying school board and city official was able to open new Sports Field for Cardinal Leger SS - W.G.Davis Field
  • Lobbied and successfully obtained inclusion of Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board participation in City of Brampton Remembrance Day Ceremony  for the first time ever
  • Motioned and obtain policy to profile and celebrate Catholic Female leaders/saints on International Women's Day
  • Beautified and modernized all elementary school playgrounds
  • Renovations at St. Mary Elementary School
  • Shortened Walking Distances for High School Students
  • Curb reconstruction at St. Anne's Elementary School for Student Safety
  • Board Wide Wireless Access and Educational Technology
  • Instituted DPCDSB Annual Student Safety Award for Brampton School
  • Raised EQAO and OSSLT scores in ward's underperforming schools
  • Lobbied Provincial Government for continued support of Publicly Funded Catholic Education
  • Convinced Education Minister to include parent survey in Anti Bullying Bill
  • Participated in RESPECTING DIFFERENCES document writing team
  • Originated "Faith in our Future" Province wide Social Media Campaign to restore Catholic Faith Conviction which has developed into OCSTA''s  Together in Faith Campaign  http://www.togetherinfaith.ca/​

Anna is committed to advocating for parents on behalf of their children and to protecting their right to Catholic Education in this province.

Anna is Vice Chair of Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board & Trustee for Brampton Wards, 1, 3 & 4.


Anna and her husband Tony are devout Catholics that have been married for 40 years and are the parents of two sons, who graduated from

St. Augustine Secondary School. Peter is a Computer Programmer, and Nicholas is attending St. Augustine Seminary, to become a Priest.


Anna has lived in Brampton for over 34 years and is a long time parishioner of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Brampton.


Anna was born in Toronto to a large Catholic family.  Her father was a deacon who served the religious community for over 20 years. She is a devoted mother and family member.
